Who am I?

You have probably gathered that my name is Warren...Warren Read to be complete.

I have worked in a number of roles, mostly human resources and organisation performance related, for a range of organisations; big multinationals (Alcoa, Woodside Offshore Petroleum, Motorola), government agencies (The UK Department for International Development, Scottish Environmental Protection Agency) and small to medium size enterprises.

In the last fifteen years these roles have mainly been consultancy based, and focused on developing capabilities within these organisations.

Now, as a lecturer in the Business School of a Western Australian university, I am involved in developing the human resource and leadership capabilities of the next generation of leaders.

So why this site? Well, in the course of my lecturing, an insightful fellow lecturer has introduced me to some concepts that I think resonate with the many major issues that we, as a global community, face at the moment. So I thought I'd share!

Its all about timing

Just as I decide to develop this website and blog I read articles in The Deal, The Australian newspaper's business magazine, about the importance of corporate ethics, a renewed emphasis on creativity rather than numbers in business strategy, the need to give power to your people to increase the flow of ideas, a review of Peter Senge's new book about how individuals and organisations can work together to create a sustainable world and that corporate car fleets in Australia are 'going green'! Am I too late or just on time?? :-)
